FAQ

How can I use blogger in my classes?

Blogger can be used to share ideas, reflect on techniques used, and can be used to keep track of daily activities. It can be used as a guide for parents and students, so they can know what to expect from the class and understand what will be done in the class. It can be a place to post nightly homework assignments so that parents can be aware of the students homework and help them to work through their assignments.

What benefits are there to using this tool?

A blog can be a great way for teachers and students to stay organized. If a student forgets to write down what a homework assignment is for the weekend, they could find it posted on the blog by the teacher. If a parent wants to know why or how a teacher is teaching a topic, or what the purpose of a project is, the teacher could post this information on the blog, preventing a back-up of emails from parents. The teacher could also have their school contact information posted on the blog, so that parents can easily find it and reach them if they have any further questions.

What limitations are there to using this tool?

Students and parents could rely on the blog for information they can easily attain in class, or through the teacher. For example, if a teacher posts homework assignments on a blog but also speaks of them in class,it could create a bad habit for students and could give them reason to not bother writing down their assignments while in class. It's important that the blog be seen as a tool and not as a substitute for not paying attention in class.
